A CYCLIST was pronounced dead at the scene following ‘a suspected medical episode’ on the A591, police have confirmed.
The incident occurred at about 4pm on Saturday May 2 near Bownswood, Windermere, and saw the busy Lake District route closed for a time with cars turned around by police while ambulance staff carried out their work.
A spokesperson for Cumbria Police has now confirmed that a 65-year-old man was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
The spokesperson said: “Officers can confirm there are no suspicious circumstances.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
