I was cold.

She didn’t answer right away.

We could still feel the heartbeat.

“What’s wrong?” I asked, trying to sit up straight. “Is my baby okay?”
The doctor lowered her voice.
“Your baby is fine. But I need you to listen to me calmly.”
At that moment, the door opened without authorization.
Diego entered, closely followed by Paola.
“Perfect,” he said. “Now the doctor can finally tell me how far along this other man’s pregnancy is.”
Dr. Salinas turned slowly towards him.
She looked at Paola.
Then she looked at the screen again.
And then she said:
“Mr. Diego, before you accuse your wife again… you should look at what is displayed on this screen.
