By automatically considering the hook movement, users can quickly take action without having to check or correct errors.
This accelerates the workflow, especially for repeat tasks, as this feature ensures reliability with minimal effort.
Reduces frustration and increases self-confidence
Users can rely on measurements obtained without hesitation, which simplifies project implementation and reduces the number of errors.
The measurement process is simplified, making it less stressful for beginners and unfamiliar with advanced tools.
How to properly use the measuring tape with freeheads
1. Understanding the Free Point Mechanism
It should be remembered that the slow end (a metal hook at the end of the belt) was deliberately designed so that it could move slightly, usually with about 1/16 inches (1.5 mm) to compensate for its thickness.
This mechanism guarantees the accuracy of the measurement, whether you measure from the outside (with the hook entered) or from the inside (with the extended hook) of the object.
Consult this feature by gently moving the tip back and forth to feel the range of its movement before starting work.
2. Prepare the measuring tape and the surface
Check if the belt is clean and working properly. Remove dust, impurities or sticky residues that can prevent the tip from moving or stretching the curvature.
Make sure that the measured surface is stable and as flat as possible, as uneven or curved surfaces may require special attention to position the tip correctly.
Stretch the ribbon by a few centimeters, then pull it back to make sure it moves freely, does not stick and bend.
3. Measure external dimensions (press the tip)
In the case of external measurements (e.g. plate length or table width), the free end hook with the edge of the element.
Press the firm tip at the starting point so that it slides inside, clutching the clearance and leveling zero with the edge.
Pull the tape to the end, holding it tight and straight, then read the measurement at the point where the tape enters the casing, making sure the thickness of the hook has been automatically included.
4. Measure internal dimensions (remove the tip)
In the case of internal measurements (for example, the distance between two walls or the depth of the box), the tip should be applied to one of the walls of the room.
Gently pull the lane so that its tip comes out and fully adheres to the surface. This way, you will increase its thickness when you read.
Stretch the tape on the other side, press the sachet body on the second surface and note the measurement, adding to this the length of the sachet (usually on the side, for example 3 inches or 76 mm) for precise measurement.
