An endearing young man, an exit that never ended
Joshua Maddux was not an ordinary boy. Good student, passionate about music, with his characteristic blonde hair, he had gone through the trials with remarkable maturity. The divorce of his parents, then the disappearance of his older brother Zachary in 2006 had deeply marked him. Yet his relatives agreed that Joshua seemed calm, almost fulfilled, in the days before his disappearance.
On May 8, 2008, he simply warned his sister Kate that he was going for a walk. Nothing alarming for this regular of the national forest of Pike, located close to his home. But the hours stretch, then the days. His father Mike mobilizes the entourage, travels the surrounding area, warns the authorities. Research is intensifying without result. Months are getting years, and the family refuses to give up hope. Kate sometimes imagined that her brother had gone to sail elsewhere, notebook in hand, to write away from everything.
